CONTINGENCY SCENE - CASTING & STAR IMAGE DEVELOPMENT

Since Shantelle was present in the first shoot, but wasn’t able to make it for the second shoot, it is important that she attends this shoot. The sole purpose of this shoot is to clear the gap in the narrative, to explain to the audience why Shantelle isn’t present in the Day 2 shoot. This shoot focuses on the girls running into an enclosed space, and a masked guy appearing, and taking Shantelle away from Danella, as Danella continues running, to exit the alleyway. The main reasons for casting these two girls, shown in the photos below, is that they all have some sort of Dance experience, or are just good at dancing, which is pretty much a requirement for this music video, and of course, they have been our cast for the project, so we wouldn’t just randomly alter this.

Another reason is that the girls are actual friends in life, meaning that they won’t be forced to act as if they know each other; instead we believe that their emotions will better flourish, as a result of them growing up knowing each other for a long time. Furthermore, the two girls fit into the ‘Forever Young’ element that we are going for in our music video, through them actually being quite young, and independent women, as well as them having a trendy fashion sense, which will be useful for the music video.

Shantelle is a friend of Danella, with immaculate dance experience. Not only has she studied Dance within the school, she partakes in Dance classes in her own time, making her the ideal casting for a House and Dance music video. With this in mind, Shantelle will also be able to aid with choreographing for the dance scenes in the music video. Shantelle and Danella had amazing chemistry as close friends in the first shoot, and so this is something we hope to carry on into this shoot.

Danella fits the young and trendy vibe that we are looking for in our music video. She also sings, and can dance. This means that she should have some confidence in front of a camera, as well as being able to dance for the required dancing scenes. Danella will be the main character for our music video, playing herself, as an artist, which we will be featuring in the track that we are using. Danella was really cool to work with in the first and second shoots, and I believe will definitely deliver for the scene we plan to film for this shoot.

Below this is the costume section from the overall shoot plan. This shows the clothing items that we plan for the two girls to wear for the shoot, as well as what we plan for the masked guy to wear, which in essence for all recurring cast members, it is the exact same clothing items they wore for the first shoot.

Below is a Vodcast where Amid, Trenay and I discuss our casting decisions.

Below is a Vodcast where we talk about our plan for the use of costume for this shoot.

Below are the two moodboards from my moodboard page, which hold some images, related to what we are trying to go for, in terms of our planned costume, both for the girls as well as the masked guy.

With all of this planned, I feel that we are developing our Star Image, as Danella is planned to wear quite trendy clothing, as well as her friend, Shantelle. Danella’s and Shantelle’s makeup, will again be at their discretion, and is not a major factor for the shoot. The costume accounts for that fact that it is slightly cold outside, and as a result, the girls will be instructed to wrap up warm. This supports the music video, as accessories such as gloves or scarfs will indicate the season to the audience, as well as the scenery, further pushing the Christmas element that we are going for. I believe that we have become closer with the girls, from the immense eleven hour Day 1 shoot, and the eight hour Day 2 shoot with Danella, and so I feel that they will continue to be comfortable working around us, and may be pleased that this shoot is incredibly short.
