DIGIPAK IDEAS

As part of our A2 media coursework portfolio, alongside our music video, we have been asked to create two ancillary products that relate to the overall themes and feel of our music video. We have chosen to create a Digipak and a Website as our two ancillary products. Due to the fact that I will be editing the music video, as a group we have decided for Amid to work on the Digipak, bringing in his drawing and animation experience, and for Trenay to work on the Website, with his extensive knowledge on networking, from his Cisco Course. This means that when we enter the post production stage of the music video, everyone will have something to do, which will all contribute to our final project.

In order to be able to successfully create a Digipak, it is important that we come up with and sketch ideas down onto paper. The first sketch shown below is for the front cover, which we all came up with collectively. We had the idea of Danella, our protagonist and artist, being the subject of this cover, showing her in the form of a mid-shot or close-up. Additionally, we thought that we would show half of her face wearing a mask, and the other half without a mask. We chose to keep this idea, as we felt that it was one of the strongest links we could have with the music video and track, in terms of Danella being in the process of gaining a new identity. The half mask could also foreshadow the events that occur in the music video, as we have already filmed the narrative section of our music video, which in essence leads up to Danella putting the mask on.

The sketch of this Digipak front cover can be seen below:

For the remainder of the Digipak sides, Trenay and I felt that it would be best for Amid to come up with the ideas himself, and present it to us, to see what we liked and what we felt he could improve. This would also allow him to extend his creativity, without any restrictions that may be a result of us all working together for this.

The remaining five sketches that amid created for the rest of the Digipak can be seen below:

From looking at the sketches that Amid has drawn, relating to his ideas for the Digipak, I feel confident that he has a solid idea about what he wants to create. Some of the sketches show that it will be challenging to create these covers, allowing Amid to also develop his skills in the software he uses to create the six different sides. The next page focuses on some of the drafts that Amid has created, as he works towards completing the Digipak.
