The Day 2 shoot revolves around the two girls from the first shoot, coming onto a car park roof, becoming surrounded by masked guys, and then engaging in a dance off with them. Below is the latter section from the overall shoot plan based on the use of an open spaced location. We decided to find a location with a large open space, as the dance off will need to occur in this location, and large open spaces aid with dance offs, as well as providing space for the person operating the camera, to allow for a greater multitude of shots. Open spaces also create a theme of isolation, which works well with our planned narrative, suggesting that the girls are out on their own, without anyone else to help them.

DAY 2 - LOCATION SCOUTING

Below is a Vodcast where Amid, Trenay and I explain our choices for the locations that we searched for, for the Day 2 shoot of our music video.

Below is a gallery, consisting of ten screenshots of the locations we searched for, via Google Maps, looking for large open spaces, where we felt that we would be able to film, without any issues.

Since the Woodgreen Mall car park roof was our favourite location, we decided to try to ask for permission to use it for our music video. We found the Mall’s contact details on the websites, and I began exchanging emails with the Events Manager, who was extremely friendly, and together we confirmed a date where we could use the top floor of the car park for filming. Below are 6 screenshots of the exchanged emails with me and the contact at the Mall.

In order to confirm that we were students, and that we had a Public Liability Insurance number, we asked our Media teacher to put a letter together, that I sent out to our contact. The letter can be seen below:

Below are 51 photos that we took of the Woodgreen Mall Car Park, that we would be using to film this shoot of our music video. The photos were taken by Amid, and can be navigated through using the directional arrows in the gallery of 6 slides, below. A photo can be expanded by clicking on it:

Below is a map of the mall, to ensure that we know exactly where to find security, so that we could sign in and film as soon as possible, without any issues of being lost.

I feel that location scouting for this shoot has been very effective as we have been able to book out the location that we really wanted to use. This car park roof is also closed to the general public, except for Christmas. But, as Christmas is over, the car park will be totally empty. This helps us out tremendously, as we don’t have to worry about being interrupted, and can use the location as we please, in order to strengthen the narrative, or freedom that both the crew and cast will have.
