DAY 3 - PROP LIST
Like for the previous shoots, props have played, and will continue to play a vital role in the storytelling and performance of our music video. Day 3 solely consists of Danella, Amid, Trenay and I all performing together as a band, for 4 scenes, which are planned for four sections of the music video. Props can also help to create a theme, or give something the characters to do, rather than just being in a location and doing nothing. Additionally, for this shoot, musical instruments will be used by us and Danella, to create the band performance element that we want to include for the music video. The major props will be included into the storyboards, which will highlight when it will be needed, during the shoot. Below is the prop section of the overall shoot plan for Day 3, which shows all the props that we plan to use for this shoot.
White Gloves – Differently to previous shoots for this music video, in this shoot we are planning to all wear the white gloves while performing. This goes well with the paint overalls which we also plan to wear, as it creates this element of being protected, or not leaving a trace behind, making us possibly seem as shifty characters, or almost as if we are a part of a crime scene, and protecting all the evidence, which could be suggesting that we are protecting the instruments that we plan to play, showing the love we have for ‘our’ music.
L.E.D Gloves – We used L.E.D lit up gloves in our first shoot for the masked guy appearances, as it helped to illuminate them, and supported the idea that the masked guy has magical capabilities. As Amid has played the main masked guy in some of the scenes and has worn these gloves, we thought that we could have Amid wearing them again, to almost speculate that he has been the masked guy all along, which is another element that I feel the audience may enjoy.
Paint Overalls – The paint overalls will be worn by Amid, Trenay and I as our costume for the dance off. As stated with the white gloves, these overalls create a mysterious theme, of us not wanting to leave a trace behind, or to protect our instruments, which we feel is a creative and quite original idea, that the audience will be interpret in the fashion they see fit. Danella will not be wearing these overalls, as she is the featured artist, and we feel that it’s best for her to continue wearing her trendy clothing, like she has done in the previous shoots.
ATM Stickers – I will be printing out our ATM logo onto stickers, so that if we get a chance, we could stick it onto the musical instruments, to maintain the branding that we have presented in the other shoots of the music video.
Below I discuss the four main musical instruments or devices that we hope to have in our shoot, as we feel they are strongly present in the music track; however, we will need to clear this with our school’s music department.
Grand Piano – I plan to use the Grand Piano for this shoot, as Piano is an instrument I am quite familiar with, and I also managed to learn the track we are using by ear, meaning that I can play the real notes for the shoot, allowing us to have shots which show the correct notes being played. The Grand Piano is an iconic instrument, and shows the introduction of a classical music element, which I have been inspired through Clean Bandit’s Real Love music video.
Electric Drums – We plan to have Trenay on the electric drums, as drumming is something that Trenay has skills in, allowing him to match to the beat of the song. This will greatly benefit the shoot, as the drums are a very strong aspect of the music track. We have decided to use Electric Drums, instead of Acoustic Drums, as we feel Electric Drums are most common in House music performances, increasing the significance of this shoot.
Microphone & Stand – Danella is planned to stand behind the microphone during three of the scenes, excluding the first scene, where we plan to have her laying down on the Grand Piano. This signifies to the audience that she is in fact singing the song, and is a rally strong sign indicating the performance element we are after.
Control Pads – Amid will be playing the control pads, which is a music instrument used in almost every House song out there, meaning that it is very significant for this genre. Amid is planned to also wear the white L.E.D gloves, which could have a significant link with him using the control pads, through the L.E.D gloves illuminating the buttons.
These props and musical instruments will aid with the storytelling of our music video quite significantly, and will not be a problem to get to location, as some of the equipment will already be in school, and the rest can be brought in by me. The most important element for this shoot will be the musical instruments, as this is vital for us to be able to perform with Danella. The other props will be used according to each scene of the dance off in this shoot of our music video.
