DAY 2 - STORYBOARDS & ANIMATICS

As previously mentioned, for this shoot we created the storyboards and shot list simultaneously. As Amid drew the storyboards, I wrote down the shot description and shot list, taking everyone’s ideas into account. As previously stated, the shoot will have four scenes, including: the masked guys surrounding the girls, facing them off in a dance off, a freestyle dance scene where the girls put on white masks, and a scene where the some of the cast will speak to camera. These elements have not been fully storyboarded, but instead key frames, as we feel that our shot list is incredibly precise, and is enough for us to work from. Additionally, it would have taken a very long time to storyboard for all of the shots that we are planning to film for this shoot. The only element that we have not considered storyboarding is the shots that I have listed as, ‘interpret shot on day’, as this is something we plan to decide depending on what is being filmed, based on the ideas we come up with on location.

Below is the animatic I’ve edited together, using the storyboards that Amid drew, showing how scene 1 could look when edited, excluding the shots that we obviously haven’t needed to storyboard:

With these well drawn storyboards, thanks to Amid, alongside my detailed shot lists, I am now certain that the shoot is organised, and we are pretty much as ready as we feel we could be. The animatics do also give us some idea of shot duration, however are not too useful for this shoot, as we haven’t drawn, and therefore not included a lot of the storyboards. Also, the timings may differ depending on the shot that we interpret for the shots highlighted for interpretation in the shot lists. The next page holds the filming schedule, where we have planned what time of day it will be when we are filming, giving us options for the scenes that we want to film during daytime, sunset, or even night-time. With this film schedule, and the incredibly precise turn out with my film schedule in the first shoot, I feel that we will be able to push to keep everything on time, so that we could finish with everything that we need for this section of the music video.
